Medicare is a federal health insurance program primarily for people aged 65 and older, as well as certain younger individuals with disabilities.

• Part A: Hospital insurance (covers inpatient care, skilled nursing facility care, hospice, and some home health care).

• Part B: Medical insurance (covers doctor visits, outpatient care, preventive services, and medical supplies).

• Part C (Medicare Advantage): Private insurance plans that bundle Parts A and B, often with additional benefits.

• Part D: Prescription drug coverage.

Most people enroll in both, but some may delay Part B if they have employer-sponsored insurance.

Medigap plans help cover out-of-pocket costs like copayments, deductibles, and coinsurance that Original Medicare doesn’t pay.

• Part A: Usually free if you’ve worked and paid Medicare taxes for 40 Quarters.

• Part B: Monthly premium (varies by income).

• Part C & D: Costs depend on the private plan you choose.

• Medicare Advantage (Part C): All-in-one plan that includes hospital, medical, and often drug coverage, plus extra benefits.

• Medigap (Supplement Insurance): Helps pay for gaps in Original Medicare but does not include drug coverage.
